Our cities are becoming ever more polluted and chaotic and the only relief is
represented by the green areas around us. Trees, bushes and grassy medows all too often the size of a handkerchief, ù
work intensely to purify the air we breathe and to enrich it with oxygen. But how many problems they have to face
and how many of these problems we inflict on them ourselves!
With no consideration at all, we park our cars on their roots and against
their trunks, we choke them with paving, we prune them clumsily and sometimes
using infected tools thus spreading lethal deseases.
In addition to that, fungi and bugs often arrive in Italy from abroad,
frequently causing veritable slaughters.
The dutch elm disease, the colored cancer of platan not to speak of bugs
as Metcalfa pruinosa and cameraria which, even if they
don’t kill
the plant they no doubt impair the aesthetical aspect and,
in the long run, they compromise the plant’s health.
In order to protect our
trees, we must know their characteristics including good
qualities and defects, as well as those of their enemies.
Doing so, it becomes possible to operate at the minimum
cost and with the best outcomes resorting to biological
techniques and integrated methodologies. If you really
care for our green friends’ health, address to
whom has done of their protection a mission besides a
profession. |
